The Kiezfest on September- Berlin

The Kiezfest was a complete success.  Despite the competition of two major events in the neighborhood the “Lollapalooza Berlin 2019” (https://www.lollapaloozade.com/) and the 50th festival at the Panke(https://pankowerchronikdotde.wordpress.com/tag/pankefest/)
about 1200-1500 visited the Freizeitzentrum Upsala and had fun. – This was an excellent opportunity to make the INVOLVE project and its offers known to new and old Berliners.

As good example a group of people from many different countries cooked together, offered common activities for children, from children’s make-up, to handicrafts, silkscreen printing, etc. Also they prepared the event location and cleaned it up afterwards in a good team spirit. This resulted in many interesting dialogues among the group of Involve volunteers.

Already at 11 o’clock the first helpers were on site and started with the preperations. From 3 p.m. to well over 7 p.m. there were different actions and presentations on the stage. Many local partners and other organisations from the neighbourhood presented their work with children and young people. At 10 p.m. everything was tidy and clean, the staff did an excellent job.
Besides FZU our cooperation partner Global New Generation Berlin e.V. offered a wide range of activities and cooperated in the coordination of the volunteers from the INVOLVE project. Since the association is very diverse, many migrant volunteers could be involved. There are also many interested people who were invited to the INVOLVE working group meeting which takes place at the end of September and then every month.

More than 20 volunteers from Germany, Africa and Asia took part and demonstrated their great commitment to make these Kiezfest a big success and to attract more volunteers for the INVOLVE Project activities.
